Arminia Bielefeld vs Freiburg – Bundesliga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 28 encounter, with Arminia Bielefeld taking on Freiburg on Friday the 9th of April, 2021, at SchücoArena.

Arminia visited Mainz last weekend, went 1-0 down in the 56th minute from the penalty spot, but managed to avoid defeat by equalizing in the 76th minute. Their current form reads; DLWLD. They are on 23 points from 27 matches, sitting second-to-last in the table, having only doomed Schalke below them. Koln, sitting 16th, in the playoff position, are also on 23 points, while Hertha Berlin and Mainz, the first two teams below the playoff position, are on 25 points each. Arminia have 6W, 5D and 16L, more losses than wins and draws combined, but “only” two in their last five games. Goals, 21 scored, 46 conceded. Only Schalke have scored less than them this season in the Bundesliga. Coach Frank Kramer played some sort of a 4-4-2 formation against Mainz last weekend, with Vlap and Voglsammer up front. The latter was the one who equalized for Arminia in the 76th minute. That was actually his first Bundesliga goal this season, on his 11th appearances. He had at least 12 goals in each of the three previous seasons playing for Arminia in all three in the second division, but 2020-21 has not been... good to him.

Freiburg visited Gladbach last weekend, opened the scoring in the 10th minute, stayed up for 43 minutes, but not only they got equalized in the 53rd, they even went 2-1 down in the 60th, after which they failed to recover. That 2-1 did not change in the remainder of the game. Freiburg’s current form reads; LWLLW. They are on 37 points from 27 matches, sitting 10th in the table, two points behind 9th-placed Gladbach and five above 11th-placed Augsburg. Freiburg have 10W, 7D and 10L, having lost three of their last four games. Goals, 40 scored, 41 conceded. Coach Christian Streich played a 5-3-2 formation against Gladbach last weekend, with Demirović and Höler up front. It was Sallai, the Hungarian, who scored Freiburg’s only goal,  his 7th of the season in the Bundesliga, from 22 appearances. The 23-year-old has been having a very productive season.

In the reverse fixture back in December, Freiburg won 2-0 as hosts.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.

Date: Friday, 9th of April, 2021.
