Streams for Fremantle Dockers vs Hawthorn Hawks

Tradition has it in 2021, that the round ends in Perth, at Optus with the Dockers and Eagles taking it in turns, to play their opponent in this timeslot, and this week it is Fremantle who take on the Hawks. It is a game, where neither are expected to be great in 2021, but either could qualify for the top 8, if results go their way.  Fremantle have been solid in Perth but not so good in Melbourne to start the season, as they touched up the Giants when they played here, but lost against Melbourne and Carlton in their first trips east.  Hawthorn have shown some glimpses of good play, as they went close to upsetting Geelong on Easter Monday, and defeated the Bombers by a point in the opener, but did lose against the defending premiers Richmond.  Perth is predicted to have some rainfall on Sunday, making this game’s conditions less than ideal for the players, especially as there will also be strong winds around making it tricky to kick and mark the ball.

Hawthorn are in the business of resting their players in 2021, it seems, as both Koschitzke and Burgoyne are not in the team for this game, at this stage, though they have travelled to Perth as emergencies.  Michael Hartley gets a start in the half back line for Hawthorn as the ready-made replacement, and will play just his 3rd game for Hawthorn since moving over before 2020 from Essendon as a draftee.  Fremantle are a much better side in Perth, it seems, and they will be even better now that Nat Fyfe is included in the team again, while Treacy, Sturt and Watson all get chances to impress in this game.  Hayden Young, Lachie Schultz and Sam Switowski are injured and not eligible for selection, while Liam Henry and Stefan Giro are not in the squad after their efforts against Carlton.

In Perth last year, the venue for this game, Fremantle were too good, as they defended their way to victory, restricting the Hawks to just 4 goals and kicking 7 of their own.  Hawthorn do have two big victories in the prior games in 2019 and 2018, as they won by 31 down in Launceston in July 2019 and by a hefty 59 at this venue in the 19th round of 2018.  Fremantle are fancied to win by 2 goals according to bookies margin markets, while they are $1.52 favourites, but Hawthorn are $2.55, and a good chance of proving their efforts in Geelong were not wasted.

PREDICITON: Hawthorn have been quietly good and consistent and do not fear a trip to Perth, they should win by 10.

BETTING TIP: $2.75 for the Hawks to win by 1-39 offers fine value.
