Streams for Leigh vs Huddersfield

Newly promoted Leigh have their first home game of 2021, as the league to date has played in clusters, where they will face Huddersfield for a place in the quarter finals, and will view this game as a chance to show they aren’t just making up the numbers.  Huddersfield have started 2021 poorly, with losses to Catalans and Hull FC, but cannot be taken lightly, as they too will see this game as a chance to get some confidence in their playmakers.  Leigh almost had the dream start to their 2021 tenure in the Super League, as they pushed Wigan to the brink, and ended up losing by just 2, but then got caned against Warrington in round 2.  Cold and some wet conditions are forecast in Leigh for this game, meaning players will have to be cautious, but should still show plenty of skill in what should be a competitive game of rugby league.

Leigh are probably strengthening their squad, in order to get their first win, as they look likely to hand a debut to former NRL and New South Wales star Nathan Peats, following his release from the high-flying Titans.  The other star yet to play for Leigh that they have to debut in this game is former Wigan hard-man Ben Flower, who should be a fine addition and provide plenty of starch in the middle.  Aidan Sezer and Joe Greenwood are out of the Giants squad for this game, as Senior and Ashworth get opportunities, in what looks to be a squad capable of winning this fixture.  The likes of McQueen, Gaskell and Gavet are the most obvious stars that Huddersfield will look to, when inspiration is needed.

Back in 2016, these teams met and played out a large aggregate scoring, poor defence, type game, when Leigh ran out 48-40 winners, but obviously both squads are much different now.  Leigh are given little hope in the Cup winners market with odds of $67, while Huddersfield are not exactly fancied either at $19, but will surely be out to make it difficult for a team in the quarter finals if they win here.  Huddersfield are predicted to win this by about 8 points, in margin betting markets, and are $1.36 favourites to win, while the Centurions are $3.20, suggesting inclusions like Peats might level the playing field somewhat.

PREDICITON: Despite a poor start to 2021, Giants by 6.

BETTING TIP: $2.60 is ok odds for Huddersfield to win by 1-12.
