AFL ROUND 8

NORTH MELBOURNE KANGAROOS VS COLLINGWOOD MAGPIES

SATURDAY MAY 8, 4.35 PM, MARVEL STADIUM, MELBOURNE

Two truly embattled clubs from Melbourne do battle in the evening timeslot at Marvel this Saturday, as the Kangaroos look to get their winning total off 0 and Collingwood try to find some form that saw them advance to the 2nd week of the finals in 2020.  North Melbourne have not shown much this season at all, and are 0-7, following arguably their best effort so far, when Melbourne belted them by 30.  The Pies are not much better off, they have just 1 win, and have lost 5 in a row, in recent times, and were humbled by the Suns last weekend, losing by 24, and are surely thinking of doubling their win tally here.  No weather can influence games this season, at Marvel as they are playing them all under the roof, so fans can also take advantage of that and not worry what forces they need to deal with at the game.

Young Luke Davies-Uniacke is continuing his yoyo season in and out of the side, as he returns and will start for the Kangaroos in the midfield, and is their only addition to the squad that went against Melbourne, and did okay last weekend.  Bosenavulagi and Phillips drop out of the squad, while Tom Campbell has a minor milestone of playing his 50th AFL game, in a big milestone for Collingwood it is Sidebottom’s 250th.  Brown, MacRae and Rantall, will not be on the field to celebrate with the long-time star of the side, as they were not selected, but Oliver Henry gets a game in the forward pocket and Tyler Brown will play across half forward, for the Pies, in what is clearly a must-win game for them.

Collingwood were way too good for the Roos in 2020 as they smashed them by 30, in the shortened quarters season, which would probably equate to a win by 50+ under normal playing conditions and times.  Collingwood are not completely dead, as bookies seem to believe they have a surge in them or at least capable of playing better than this as they are $81 to win the title still, in 15th position, while the Roos are dead at $501 in that market.  Collingwood should win by 4 goals according to margin markets, and they are $1.28 favourites, but must not take North Melbourne lightly, even though they are $3.75.

PREDICTION: Collingwood will improve, they should beat Norths by 30+.

BETTING TIP: $3.10 offers nice value for the Pies to win by 40+.
