Streams for NQ Cowboys vs Brisbane Broncos

If only we could turn back the clock 6 years, when these teams played out one of the greatest Grand Finals ever, it is not to be, but this game should be entertaining anyhow, as both teams have shown some life in recent weeks, yes, it is the old rivals the Cowboys and Broncos, in Townsville, on Saturday night primetime.  The Cowboys were unlucky to lose against a new-look Warriors outfit, last weekend, to snap their 3 game winning streak, which leaves them in a cluster of teams at 3-5, on the precipice of the top 8.  Brisbane wowed their fans and each other as they came back from the dead, last weekend, after letting 4 early tries pass them by in the opening 15 minutes, they went into halftime incredibly with a lead, and beat the Titans, to get a 2nd win of the year.  Ideal conditions await in Townsville, as the Cowboys look to start to build a more prominent home ground record, in front of what is sure to be a packed house.

Hampton has picked up a pectoral injury after the Warriors game, and is replaced by Clifford in the halves, while Javid Bowen makes his first NRL appearance since 2019 in the centres, due to O’Neill’s injury.  Kevin Walters has kept the same 17 that did the job against Gold Coast, despite it being a Jekkyl and Hyde performance, and resisted the temptation to bring Staggs back too early, with the likelihood of him playing a role next week in Magic Round.  Milford showed the trip to reserve grade did him good, as he played as well as he has in a long time last weekend, and partnered well with Gamble.

The Cowboys got their only title against these Broncos on that memorable occasion back in 2015, thanks to Thurston magic as well as a splendid try to Feldt, supplied by Morgan, which really was a signature of how these clubs played rugby league in those days.  The results in 2020 were split between these brotherly type clubs of Queensland, as Brisbane won the pre-covid match 28-21, but the Cows were much better in September winning 32-16.  Both teams are $151 to win the title, and admittedly unlikely, but there is quality across the paddock in both squads.  The Cowboys are $1.60 to win this one, and have a slight advantage in the handicap margin market of 4.5 points, while Brisbane who are unpredictable are $2.35.

PREDICTION: Cowboys at home too good, should win by 6.

BETTING TIP: $2.75 for the Cowboys to win by 1-12 makes most sense.
