With a Grand Final hosting qualification in reach the Reds take on the Brumbies, in what is easily the biggest game of the season, at Suncorp Stadium, where they will seal the minor premiership with a win.  Queensland have shown no signs of slowing down on a tremendous run through all-comers in 2021, as they have a perfect 6-0 record and are enjoying one of their best years in a decade or more under Brad Thorn.  The Brumbies are surely not out of the title reckoning at all, but need to win here, in order to keep the possibility of them winning the home and away rounds, and thus hosting the final.  The Reds walloped Melbourne 44-19 last weekend, while the visiting Brumbies had the bye, their last result was thrashing the Force 42-14.  Hot daytime weather will fizz down to ideal temperatures in the evening on Saturday, at Suncorp with temperatures starting at 24 for the game and dropping during, while no wind and clear skies await.

Wallabies forward Liam Wright makes his return to the bench for Queensland, which further boosts them, especially if he gains fitness and forces his way into the starting side, which means there is no place in the squad for Blyth.  The Reds have had great service from stars such as Tupou and O’Connor, and despite missing Vunivalu for a few games already in his first season in the 15 man game, have had quality finishers like Petaia and Paisami doing the job admirably.  The Brumbies welcome back captain Alaalatoa at prop and quality lock Darcy Swain, while Wallabies forward Scott Sio is on their bench.  Making way are Harry Lloyd and Fred Kaihea while it is a hard-luck story for Rory Scott who also is not in the Brumbies squad for this game.

Queensland were too good for the Brumbies in Canberra, 5 weeks ago, as they recorded a thrilling 40-38 victory, which put them top and have not looked like losing since.  That was a small piece of revenge for the Grand Final loss in 2020, which the Brumbies won 28-23, but winning this one will be very important to the Reds, as they would dearly love a home Final, giving them every chance of raising their flag this season.  It looks again as though it will be who kicks best wins or a very tight game at least, as margin betting markets suggest just 2 points the difference, while Queensland are $1.75 favourites and the Brumbies are $2.15, in what promises to be one of the better matches of the season.

PREDICITON: Queensland by 5.

BETTING TIP: The Reds to win by 1-12 at $2.70 provides good value.
