Levante vs Barcelona – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 36 encounter, with Levante taking on Barcelona on Tuesday the 11th of May, 2021, at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.

Levante visited Deportivo Alavés on Saturday having lost four games in a row before that, four matches in which they had scored just one goal, in a their 1-5 home defeat to Villarreal. Alavés opened the scoring in the 30th minute, but… amazingly, Levante, a team that had… forgotten what it feels like to score, netted twice before halftime(!) to take the lead. They went very close to celebrating a win, but they got equalized in the 87th minute and had to settle for a single point. Their current form reads; DLLLL. They are on 39 points from 35 matches, sitting 13th in the table before Sunday’’s games. They have 9W, 12D and 14L, having earned just one point from their last five matches. Goals, 40 scored, 50 conceded. Coach Paco López played a 4-4-2 formation against Alavés last weekend, with Alejandro Cantero and Dani Gómez up front. José Luis Morales scored both goals for Levante, in the 36th and 42nd minute.

Barcelona hosted Atlético Madrid on Saturday, probably THE most important game of the season for them, a game they absolutely had to win, so as to boost their chances of winning the La Liga title. Truth is, they did have chances to win the match, but they could also have lost it. The final whistle found the two teams drawing 0-0, a poor result for the Blaugrana. Their current form reads; DWLWW. They are on 75 points from 35 matches, sitting 2nd in the table before Real Madrid’s game on Sunday versus Sevilla. Barcelona have 23W, 6D and 6L, having scored 80 goals and conceded 33. Coach Ronald Koeman played a 3-1-4-2 formation against Atlético last weekend, with Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann up front. As guests, Barcelona have won 11 of their last 12 matches(!) in La Liga, but crucially lost 2-1 to Real Madrid. More recently, they beat Valencia 2-3. Regardless of what Real Madrid did on Sunday, the Blaugrana’s mission in La Liga is now super difficult. Worst of all, they know that even if they win their last three games, chances are they won’t win the championship title, it no longer depends on them.

In the reverse fixture back in December, Barcelona won 1-0 at Camp Nou.

A 1-2 victory for the visitors is predicted at full-time.

Date: Tuesday, 11th of May, 2021.

Venue: Estadio Ciudad de Valencia

Kick-off time: 22:00 (GMT+2).
