Formula 1 – Spanish Grand Prix Race Preview, Prediction, Time & Schedule.

On Sunday, the 9th of May 2021, the Aramco Gran Premio De España 2021 race will kick off at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya by 14:00 (GMT+1).

Hamilton set the fastest time in Saturday's qualifying to pick up his 100th pole of his career – 14 years after his first. "I can't believe we're at 100 and it's down to the men and women who are back at the factory, continuously raising the bar and never giving up," Hamilton said after the session. The Englishman beat 2nd placed Max Verstappen (Red Bull) by 0.036 secs while team mate, Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) will be starting from 3rd place on the grid. "Second for us here on this track is good for us," Verstappen said after the session. "I can be happy with that. I hope we can have a good race." Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) came in behind the trio in fourth place while Esteban Ocon (Alpine) was in 5th. Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) came in behind Esteban Ocon in 6th place. Four-time world Champion Sebastian Vettel didn’t make it past Q2 and will be starting the race from 13th place on Sunday. Mich Schumacher (Haas), Nicholas Latifi (Williams) and Nikita Mazepin (Haas) finished in 18th, 19th and 20th respectively.

What Does the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Look Like?

Saturday’s Spanish Grand Prix Qualifying session will be held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya - a 4.675km long race track. It held its first grand prix in 1991 and is composed of what can be called bends and relatively straights. There will be two DRS Detection Zones – before turn 9, and turn 16. This 66-lap race will cover a total length of 308.424 km.

What Can We Expect at the Spanish Grand Prix?

It looks like another race of two Mercs against one Red Bull. Sergio Perez finished in 8th place at the end of Q3 with +0.960 over Lewis Hamilton's time. He remains too far behind to pose any real threat to the competition. It appears Max Verstappen will be taking the fight to the Mercedes team all alone. Lewis Hamilton is tipped to win this race while Max Verstappen is tipped for another 2nd place on the podium, just as we saw at the Portuguese grand prix. Valtteri Bottas should come in as 3rd.
