Real Madrid vs Sevilla – La Liga Match Preview, Kick-Off Time & Match Prediction

Match Day 35 encounter, with Real Madrid taking on Sevilla on Sunday the 9th of May, 2021, at Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano.

Real Madrid hosted Osasuna last weekend, struggled to open the scoring, they finally did in the 76th minute, scored again four minutes later, and that 2-0 stayed unchanged until the final whistle earning the Merengues three more points. Midweek, their dream of winning the Champions League title came to an end, as they lost 2-0 to Chelsea in London, in the return leg of their semifinal tie. They had drawn 1-1 at home a week earlier. Their current form reads; LWDDW. The end of game week 34 found them sitting second in the table, on 74 points, two below leaders Atlético Madrid and level with 3rd-placed Barcelona. Real Madrid have 22W, 8D and 4L, having scored 58 goals (not really impressive, by Real Madrid standards) and conceded 24. Only Atlético Madrid have done better than them defensively this season in La Liga. Coach Zinédine Zidane played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Osasuna last weekend, with Benzema up front. Interestingly, it was Éder Militão and Casemiro who scored Real Madrid’s two goals.

Sevilla… shot their own foot last weekend; they hosted Athletic Bilbao, a win would have kept them just three points behind leaders Atlético Madrid, but they failed to score, and not just that, but in the 90th minute they conceded(!), losing 0-1. Their current form reads; LWWWW. The end of game week 34 found them sitting 4th in the table, on 70 points, six behind leaders Atlético. They have 22W, 4D and 8L,  they actually had five wins in a row before last weekend’s… shock. Goals, 49 scored, 27 conceded. Coach Julen Lopetegui played a 4-3-3 formation against Athletic Bilbao last weekend, with En-Nesyri, Ocampos and Suso up front. As guests, Sevilla have three wins in a row now, over Celta (3-4), Real Sociedad (1-2) and Levante (0-1), and just one loss in their last eight games. No matter what happens in the last four rounds of matches, next season they will be playing in the Champions League group stage, as 5th-placed Real Sociedad are… ages of light behind them in the table.

In the reverse fixture back in December, Real Madrid won 0-1 in Seville.

A 1-1 draw is predicted at full-time.

Date: Sunday, 9th of May, 2021.

Venue: Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano

Kick-off time: 21:00 (GMT+2).
